Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!! It’s been so long since we’ve chatted, but as always, the holidays just get so busy. This year was no exception. Along with the holiday craziness, we also had some sad family happenings. My Grandpa passed away a few days before Christmas. That mainly took up a lot of time and didn’t leave me in the mood to blog for most of December.

Our Christmas was very low-key, we tried to keep it that way since no one was really in the celebrating mood. We also tried to keep spending to a minimum because no one wants to be paying off Christmas for the rest of the year. We didn’t have Turkey for Christmas because we had turkey for Thanksgiving. You can only have so much Turkey and we’re only two people in our house and I hate eating the same left over for weeks. Instead we had ribs and mac and cheese. It was delicious, we still had left overs, but I didn’t mind because ribs are probably one of my favorite foods.

My parent’s and Grandma came over and we opened gifts, watched a Christmas movie, ate dinner and played a game of sticks. I’m not sure if everyone knows about that game, I’ve only ever played it with my family. It’s a card game kind of like phase 10. I’ll have to do a post about it one day and explain it more. It’s fun but can also be quite frustrating at the same time. I like it because it’s much easier to understand than rummy, spades and all those other games you seem people playing.

I got a new computer for Christmas and an apple watch. I kind knew ahead of time those were the two presents my husband got me because I don’t really need anything and those are the only things I’ve mentioned possibly getting in the last year. I’m more excited about my new computer as my old one was passed onto me from my computer programming husband. It wasn’t a bad computer and it still works fine but it was getting kind of slow and always sounded like it was about to take flight because the cooling fan was so loud.

I have had a Fitbit since 2013 and adjusting to the apple watch took a little while since it measures your health overall and doesn’t focus on just steps. There’s pros and cons to each and I’ll discuss that later this week.

Aside from all that everyone in my husbands immediate family has birthdays in the two weeks from Christmas to New Years. My husband’s was on Jan. 2nd and we did a surprisingly fun birthday activity I can’t wait to tell you about. We weren’t sure if it would be fun despite every review I read saying they had fun. Look for that mystery activity review to come soon.

I also participated in Marathon weekend at Walt Disney World this past weekend. I didn’t do the marathon like a did a few years ago. I don’t know if I will ever take on that challenge again. I did the half marathon and it was a challenge just to finish that.

I’ll elaborate on all these things soon. For now, I just wanted to say Happy New Year to all of you and I hope you all had a great Holiday Season with your families!
