Princess Katie

That’s right, I’m a Disney Princess now! Well again I should say since this is the second time I’ve done the Disney Princess Half Marathon. This time’s experience was a little different then last time. We stayed at a Disney Resort the night before and after the run last time which made it easy peasy to make it to the starting corrals by the 5:30 am start time.

On Saturday I picked my Pic, Heather, up from the airport after her flight from New Jersey was delayed 3 hours!! WHAT!! We headed straight to get our race packets from the airport which they made a big hassle this year by doing it at one of the Resorts, but not letting you part at said resort and making you park at downtown Disney and taking buses to the expo.

This year we never got around to booking a hotel and by the time we remembered they were all completely booked!! Yes the race is that big that every Disney hotel was full! Luckily my amazing husband said he wanted to wake up and come with us to be our one man cheering section. (and good thing he did!)

We woke up at 3:30 am got ready and hit the road by about 3:45 on our way to the castle. All was fine no traffic as you would expect at that hour of the morning. That is until we hit the inside Disney roads and then there was this:

Right before heading around the loop we decided to just jump out and head to the starting line which was only about 50 yards away. Smart move for us because Matt didn’t make it to the parking lot until about 5:35!!  Once we made it to out corral we just hung out stretched a little and waited until it was out turn to start. Disney races have about 8 corrals which start 5 minutes apart, we were in E so we had some extra time to wait. We finally made to the start line and were ready to rock!

The fireworks for our corral went off and we were on our way! We ran the first mile and then Heather said she was congested and that made it hard for her to breathe so we started alternating running and walking and  we stopped for some pictures along the way. That’s the great thing about Disney races, they may be expensive, but they are very well organized! They have entertainment at every mile, water/Gatorade every 2 miles and at the half way point they give you energy goo pouches. Also lots of people run them so you never feel like you’re alone. This particular one there were 26,000 runners!!

Half way through you run through the castle and it was a little cramped in there!

In the final 3 miles you run through Epcot and around this beauty!
The finish line is in sight!!

Got my bling!!

We made it!!!
Right after this we headed home and immediately took a nap!! Then we headed to the Pink concert at the Amway! A nice little reward for our morning efforts!!
