Last Tuesday was our first wedding anniversary! It’s crazy how fast this first fabulous year of marriage went by. In order to celebrate this milestone we spent the previous weekend in Chicago. I’m not quite sure why we picked Chicago. Southwest was having a sale on flights back in like September and I read off the places they fly to and sounded interesting to Matt. I had been to all of the choices previously and they were all great places, but he had never been to Chicago so it was decided.
What wasn’t accounted back in September when it was 100 degrees here in Florida and we don’t really thing about winter was how cold Chicago would be in February!! When we landed Friday morning and it was a cool 9 degrees out we soon found out how cold Chicago can get! Despite the cold we had a fabulous weekend. It even snowed on Saturday and Sunday, which was the first time I’ve actually seen snow fall. I was like a child watching the snow fall out of the hotel window and we even made a trip down to the street to see it first hand!
Here’s our trip via pictures to make it easier!
DAY 1

Ready for our early morning flight out!
Found our hotel The Allerton, great hotel btw I’ve stayed here twice now.
Checking in in the beautiful lobby
Our first dinner there. of course had to be stuffed pizza

At Buckingham fountain. (This is the fountain they show in the opening credits of Married with Children)
Chicago skyline over Lake Michigan before going into the Aquarium
Headed to RPM for our official anniversary dinner and celebration
Cozy little table and our wine

Stopped by Billy Goat Taven for lunch!
So appropriate for me!

Thanks!!
I know it went by so quick and yes this Florida girl only went up north in the summers growing up. The first time I saw snow was last year in Alaska but it wasn't fresh it had been there for months! It wasn't pretty and fluffy just pretty much hard ice.
